What is the meaning of API?
API is an abbreviation forapplication programming interface .
A programming interface is often provided by software systems and serves to integrate other programmes into the system. It therefore facilitates communication between two programmes. This takes place at the source-text level. Data are exchanged in a standardised manner and structured according to a defined syntax.
Programming can be modularised and thus simplified using APIs. Communication between individual programme modules then only takes place via these interfaces.
In practice these systems are used, for example, to transmit data in real time between two systems such as a machine and an ERP system.
